German Doorways
We took a short side-trip to Mannheim Germany. Glenn is giving a talk at the university, and Sandy and I came along for the ride. We arrived on Saturday and spent the rest of the day exploring Mannheim. Yesterday, we took the train a half hour to Heidelberg. I will write more about both Mannheim and Heidelberg, but for now I want to share a small collection of outrageously ornate doorways that we have seen in the past two days. Those Germans do (or at least did) like their Baroque architecture!
Finally, here is a modern glass door (with Baroque designs superimposed on the glass) retrofitted into an older stone casing.
