The Nomadic Life II
The second stop on our digital nomad adventure was a short train ride away from Girona, Arenys de Mar, on the Costa Brava. Since it is low season, Glenn was able to find an Airbnb right on the water within an easy walk of a charming town center. Our place even has a sizeable balcony with beautiful views over a marina and out to the Mediterranean. (Although the sun has been out almost since we arrived, it has been windy and the temperature has typically been in the 50s. So we are not spending hours sitting out on the balcony.)
Last night, we ate at a seafood restaurant right on the water that was fun and lively and delicious. I had mussels and patatas bravas and Glenn had a whole (!) monkfish. Everything was fresh and wonderful. This morning we took Sandy on a long walk to the next town. There is a path which skirts the sandy beach and extends for miles (we're not sure how many) in both directions from our Airbnb. Despite this being a sleepy time of year for beach towns, the path was pretty busy, especially with dogs. In fact, it was a dog party! Big dogs, little dogs, black and white dogs, ... etc. (Eastman, P.D., Go, dog. Go!, 1961.) Sandy found many little, fluffy dogs and puppies to play with (those are his favorite kind) and many people commented on how young he seemed. He is, in fact, almost 12 years old, and I never know if those are comments about his happy puppy energy or the fact that he doesn't seem well-trained enough to be 12 years old. He always takes it as a compliment, though. And he found a couple of big, muscular dogs to bark at (never a good choice).
There are definitely fewer interesting restaurants and activities here than in Girona, but the view is beautiful and the beach-town vibe is nice enough to be happy here for a few more days. Here are some photos.
