Street Art from Strasbourg

Just back yesterday from a short trip to Strasbourg.  (We are wearing out our SNCF discount cards!)  I'll have more to say in a later post, but I wanted to share some photos of street art that I took.  There was a lot of interesting graffiti, and it was even celebrated in a cafe called La Graffeteria near our hotel.  

  

It's hard to interpret deeper meaning sometimes--Is that a microphone or a gun held by the hand with "peace" written on it?  Why is the fish zero euros?--but I still think they're beautiful and I always love the interplay between the art and the "canvas," with imperfections, window frames, crumbling edges of buildings, small signs warning of electric shocks, etc., inserting themselves into the art.
