The Moose
The last time we lived in Paris, we discovered an American/Canadian-style sports bar close to us, The Moose. It's like a little slice of America in Saint-Germain. It's run by Canadians, so it has an entire section for poutine on its menu. It also has all of the usual suspects from an American sports bar menu: smashburger, nachos, quesadilla, pulled pork sandwich, etc. On the quality scale defined by the typical sports bar, I would describe their food as outstanding (which might put it at 7/10 on a broader restaurant quality scale). In any case, it has a welcoming staff, a laid back, fun, friendly vibe, and lots of good sports on their several screens.
Notice, below, the French touches--French flags, Rugby World Cup poster--intermingled with the English signage, NFL game, and Moosehead on tap.
We always enjoy the people-watching and chance encounters there, too. When we went a couple of weeks ago to watch a Tottenham Hotspurs game, we sat next to an American family from New York who were visiting Paris and whose son just could not miss a Spurs' game. They traded tips with Kate about seeing the Spurs live and generally bonded over their fandom.
This past Sunday, we went for dinner hoping to see a live broadcast of the Patriots' 1pm (ET) game. There were, of course, several other competing NFL games, and they did not happen to have the Pats on any of their screens. But we still enjoyed a nice dinner and some football watching. There was a boisterous contingent watching the Packers, as well as a mixed (French Broncos fan/American Dolphins fan) couple sitting next to us.
And at one point, they played "Sweet Caroline" over the sound system. Everyone sang along (except for the two French guys at the next table). It felt just like home.
